Hmmmm

I'm no scientist (at all), so correct me if I'm wrong, but is the title and concept of this article somewhat or maybe a lot paradoxical?
The title for this on Yahoo that caught my eye was: 'Mini Big Bang' Created

I'm feeling a little dense. What is paradoxical about this? Is it pairing the words "mini" and "big"?

I would like to point out in the first sentence the phrase "a millions times hotter."

Matt - Like I said, I'm not a scientist, so I may not have a good grasp of this, but isn't a main concept of the big bang that it just happened? To me it seems ironic that they would/could create/re-create an incident which assumes a lack of a creator.
ha, Rachel, didn't even notice that!

The big bang doesn't actually assume a lack of creator. Where the big bang came from is a completely separate question from "did it happen?". So, when they say they created a mini-big bang, they are just trying to say that they created conditions very similar to the first few moments of the universe's existence. They are not trying to imply anything theological or philosophical.

As a side note, many people think that the big bang is excellent evidence for the existence of God, because to this point, no scientist has a good explanation for where it came from.
